Ahold USA sales rise 10% in '09

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS — Ahold, the owner of Stop & Shop stores in the United States, said fiscal 2009 net sales at Ahold USA rose 10% to €16,399 million ($23,059 million). Overall, net sales at Ahold were €27,925 million ($39,267 million) in fiscal 2009, up 9% from €25,648 million in the same period a year ago. In the United States in the year just ended, Ahold said sales at Stop & Shop/Giant-Landover totaled $17,867 million, up 4.6%, while sales at Giant-Carlisle were $4,738 million, up 4.6% year over year.
