DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. — Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc., a subsidiary of Tyson Foods, Inc., has introduced Open Prairie Natural Angus Beef. To ensure the new brand meets the U.S. Department of Agriculture criteria to be designated as natural, the production system is audited through an independent verification system to ensure the cattle receive no added hormones or antibiotics, that the animals were fed a diet that includes no animal byproducts and that there are no artificial ingredients added to the products.
“We identified ranchers with a strong commitment to the environment and to raising cattle naturally on grass and grain without added hormones or antibiotics when developing this brand,” said Kent Harrison, senior director of marketing and value creation for Tyson Fresh Meats. “We also conducted extensive consumer research to understand the values and messages that resonate best with natural consumers across the U.S.”
The brand is available to interested retailers nationwide.
