GOLDEN, COLO. — George Michel has been named chief executive officer of the Boston Market Corp. Mr. Michel, who was most recently president and c.e.o. of Timothy’s Coffee of the World, Inc., Toronto, replaces F. Lane Cardwell who was named c.e.o. in May 2009.

“The leadership transition accompanies a shift in focus from the development of the vision for the new Boston Market toward careful attention to implementation,” said T. Scott King, senior managing director of Sun Capital Partners, a private investment firm whose affiliate owns Boston Market. “Michel’s extensive operations background will ensure effective execution of the nationwide rollout. We appreciate Lane Cardwell’s significant contributions in shaping the new strategy, and wish him well in his future activities. Now we turn our full attention to executing the plan for Boston Market under George Michel’s able leadership.”

Mr. Michel left Timothy’s Coffees of the World, Inc., after it was acquired by Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc., in November 2009. He previously was c.e.o. of A&W Restaurants in the United States. Prior to his appointment at A&W, Mr. Michel spent several years overseeing international operations for Burger King Corp. in the Middle East, Asia and Canada, and also was chief operating officer for global markets for Brinker International.
