Mikawaya opens ice cream, gelato facility in L.A.

LOS ANGELES — Mikawaya USA, the creator of Mochi Ice Cream, has opened a 103,000-square-foot plant near downtown Los Angeles.

The plant will produce Mikawaya ice cream, gelato and novelties.

“The plant was designed with integrity of Mikawaya products in mind,” said Frances Hashimoto, president of Mikawaya. “It is an all-in-one facility with state-of-the-art equipment installed to guarantee the consistent production of delicious Mikawaya products, and to ensure the safety of all Mikawaya workers.”

The family-run company is 100 years old and specializes in the creation of Japanese pastries and desserts.
