Nasoya introduces fortified tofu

AYERS, MASS. — Tofu Plus from Nasoya is fortified to provide 20% of the daily nutritional requirements of the nutrients that may be harder for consumers to receive when meat is less prevalent in the diet. The added nutrients include vitamins B2, B6, B12 and D2 as well as calcium.
“We’re all taking steps to be healthier, and eating less meat is a choice many are making,” said Susan Rolnick, marketing director for Nasoya. “But many consumers worry that veggie-based foods like tofu may not provide all the nutrients they get in meat. Nasoya designed Tofu Plus to make this transition easier for consumers. We fortified Tofu Plas with B vitamins, Vitamin D, calcium and zinc, some of the essential nutrients found in meat, but not in traditional tofu.”
The new product comes in two textures, firm and extra firm. Firm Tofu Plus is best for use in a crumble fashion while the extra firm variety may work for grilling, baking or stir-fry, according to the company.
