BURLINGTON, VT. — Jostein Solheim has been named chief executive officer of Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Ice Cream and vice-president of global brand development. He succeeds Walt Freese, who announced his intent to resign in February.

Mr. Solheim has 14 years of experience in the ice cream industry, having worked previously for Unilever P.L.C., Ben & Jerry’s parent company. Most recently he completed a rejuvenation plan for the Unilever’s North American Ice Cream division that included a focus on introducing quality and innovative new products.
