Saputo to close Brampton facility

 MONTREAL – Saputo Inc. intends to close its Brampton, Ont., milk and cream processing plant by Oct. 31.

 

Production from the plant will be moved to other facilities, according to the company. Saputo also plans to consolidate all of its distribution activities in Toronto into one distribution center that will be located in Vaughan, Ont.


The transition will affect 190 employees, and costs connected with the announcement will be approximately C$4.6 million, after taxes. The costs include a fixed assets write-down of C$2 million.

The company expects annual tax savings from the initiative to be approximately C$6.5 million.
