Synergy Flavors' facility gains organic certification

WAUCONDA, ILL. — A Synergy Flavors Inc. manufacturing facility in Wauconda, a Chicago suburb, has been granted organic certification. Synergy Flavors already has another North American facility in New York that produces certified organic liquid extracts.
The company’s certified organic and organic compliant flavors offer manufacturers such claim options as “100% organic,” “organic,” “made with organic,” and they also may use the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s organic seal.
Organic food sales grew by 5.1% in the United States in 2009, which compared to 1.6% for total U.S. food sales, according to the Organic Trade Association, Greenfield, Mass.
“Our expert flavorists and regulatory group are prepared to meet the challenges manufacturers are facing,” said Karen Gallagher, marketing manager of Synergy Flavors. “Synergy will continue to add new, unique and creative flavors to our certified organic and organic compliant collection.”
