ConAgra reduces sodium in Healthy Choice soups

OMAHA — ConAgra Foods, Inc. is reducing sodium 15% in its top two varieties of Healthy Choice soup and introducing three new reduced-sodium varieties of all natural soups.
ConAgra is reducing sodium from 460 mg to 390 mg per one-cup serving in chicken noodle and chicken with rice Healthy Choice varieties. The other new varieties also have 390 mg of sodium and include cheese tortellini, red beans and rice, and reformulated tomato basil.
“The entire line of Healthy Choice soup has always met the government guideline for healthy sodium levels, which is a maximum of 480 mg per serving, and the five new soups contain about 20% less than this amount,” said Jane Anders, vice-president of research, quality and innovation for ConAgra.
The suggested retail price is $2.19 for a 15-oz can and $2.49 for a 14-oz microwavable bowl.
