LIVINGSTON, CALIF. — Foster Farms, a poultry processor, has introduced Great Bites, which are mini-chicken cheeseburgers. The new product comes in two varieties: the All-American cheeseburger that features a chicken burger, bacon, cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce; and the Santa Fe chicken cheeseburger with pepper-jack cheese and chipotle sauce.
Each burger has 90 to 100 calories and 5 grams of protein. Found in the frozen food aisle of retailers primarily on the West coast, Great Bites are available in packages of 6 to 12 burgers for a suggested retail price in the range of $3.99 to $7.99 per package.
“Overwhelmingly, consumers told us that they were in search of healthier afternoon snack options that had substance to them,” said Jennifer Corsiglia-Keim, marketing manager for Foster Farms. “With Great Bites, we ended up creating a filling snack or mini-meal that appeals to just about everyone. The wholesome protein fuels energy and helps curb what we call the ‘3 o’cluck slump.’”
