CLEVELAND — Pierre’s Ice Cream is building a 35,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Cleveland’s Midtown District, adjacent to the company headquarters.

The new facility will maximize efficiency and improve sustainability. It will have insulated panels to optimize heating and cooling, and energy efficient automated production equipment will streamline production and improve output capacity. In addition, hot and cold air from the production process will be recycled to heat and cool rooms. There will also be an automated flash-freeze hardening system to enhance freshness and quality.
Construction is expected to be completed by spring of 2011.

Founded in 1932, Pierre’s offers more than 235 different products and flavors that bear the Pierre’s name. The company also manufactures private label lines and distributes many of the national brands of ice cream.
