John Miller named c.e.o. at Denny's

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — John C. Miller has been named president and chief executive officer of Denny’s Corp., effective Feb. 1.

Mr. Miller will take over for Debra Smithart-Oglesby, who has interim c.e.o. since June.

“John is a proven leader in the restaurant industry who has the talent and experience to build upon our current momentum and accelerate the resurgence of the Denny’s business and brand,” said Louis P. Neeb, head of the board’s c.e.o. search committee. “We conducted an extensive international search, including dozens of highly-qualified candidates and believe John has the right combination of skills and experience to further our growth and create additional value. He brings a passion for understanding and building brands, extensive operating skills at all levels of the business, a talent for leading management teams and working with franchisees, along with a proven ability to deliver growth and financial performance.”

Mr. Miller has more than 30 years of restaurant industry experience and has been c.e.o. and president of Taco Bueno Restaurants, Inc. since 2005. He also spent 17 years with Brinker International.
