COLLINSVILLE, CONN. — Passage Foods USA, an affiliate of Flavour Makers Pty. Ltd., an Australian sauce manufacturer, has introduced Passage to Morocco Simmer Sauces. Varieties in the new line include Moroccan Spiced Lemon Tagine, Moroccan Spiced Honey Tagine and Moroccan Harissa Tomato & Bell Pepper Beef.
“While Indian and Thai have super-charged the growth in ethnic foods, cooking shows and the adventurous eating interests of young adults are driving stronger exposure to global cuisines, and Northern African cooking has become more widely experienced,” said Mark MacKenzie of Passage Foods. “The ethnic foods market, already a $2.2 billion retail category, is expected to see continued growth of 14% over the next four years. As more consumers experience ethnic foods in restaurants and other away-from-home settings, they are looking to create those same dining experiences to share with family and friends at home. Moroccan food interest is in part driven by the strong growth in consumption of couscous over the last five years.”
Focusing on convenience, the company said the sauces may be added to meat, seafood and vegetables and simmered for 15 minutes to 20 minutes.
