LAS VEGAS — BASF introduced “Think Newtrition,” a global market initiative, during SupplySide West Oct. 11 in Las Vegas. The initiative is designed to strengthen the company’s position as a partner in the food, beverage and dietary supplement market segments while aligning nutrition products with the needs of consumers, according to Florham Park, N.J.-based BASF.
“Addressing the unmet nutritional needs of our growing global population requires new ways of thinking and new answers,” said Samy Jandali, vice-president, Nutrition & Health, for BASF.
BASF offered prototypes during SupplySide West that featured such ingredients as Vegapure plant sterol esters and Tonalin CLA (conjugated linoleic acid). A beverage was fortified with lycopene, lutein and beta-carotene. Crackers had 50 mg of omega-3 fatty acids in the form of EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) per 29-gram serving as well as 100 International Units (I.U.s) of vitamin D.
