M. Carl Johnson joins Del Monte Foods

SAN FRANCISCO — M. Carl Johnson has been named executive vice-president of brands at Del Monte Foods. In his new role, Mr. Johnson will be in charge of the company’s pet brands and a majority of its consumer brands, marketing and consumer insights groups, marketing services, research and development and innovation. He will report to David West, chief executive officer.

Carl’s deep experience and success with some of the country’s most well-known brands will help Del Monte further hone its brand positioning, drive innovation and better position our brands for long-term incremental growth.”
Mr. Johnson came to Del Monte from the Campbell Soup Co., Camden, N.J., where he was senior vice-president and chief strategy officer, responsible for corporate strategy, global research and development and quality, corporate marketing services, licensing and e-business.
