Bay Valley pickle plant to cease production

SPRINGFIELD, MO. — Bay Valley Foods, a division of TreeHouse Foods, Inc., is going to close its pickle production facility in Springfield. The company said most production will cease in August and the facility will fully close in December.
Production from the Springfield facility will be transferred to other Bay Valley Foods locations, said Brian Demos, senior vice-president of operations. The plant has 46 employees.
TreeHouse will record non-recurring, pre-tax charges to operating income of approximately $5 million, or approximately 9c per share in connection with the closing. Ongoing annual cost savings from the closing are projected to be approximately $2 million.
