Hain Celestial buys cracker maker in Norway

MELVILLE, N.Y. — The Hain Celestial Group, Inc. has acquired GG UniqueFiber AS, a manufacturer of all-natural high-fiber crackers in Norway with branded products such as GG Scandinavian bran crispbread, oat bran crispbread and GG UniqueFiber FiberSprinkle. The products are distributed in the United States, the European Union and Norway. GG UniqueFiber had sales of about $2 million in the year ended Dec. 31, 2010. “We’re excited to acquire GG crackers, a truly unique bran product that’s an excellent source of dietary fiber,” said Irwin Simon, president and chief executive officer of Hain Celestial, Melville. Hain Celestial also acquired Danival SAS, a manufacturer of certified organic food products with facilities in France. Both acquisitions are expected to be neutral to Hain Celestial earnings in fiscal year 2011 and to be accretive to fiscal year 2012 earnings. Terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed.
