David Alvarez promoted at Richardson Brands

CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. — David Alvarez has been promoted to senior vice-president of sales at Richardson Brands, a maker of branded confectionary products.
Richardson said the promotion is part of the company’s re-alignment of senior management that increases its focus on new product development and expansion into new markets. As part of the realignment, the sales and marketing organization was separated into two units reporting directly to Don Butte, chief executive officer of Richardson. Kathy Hiserodt joined the company last year as senior vice-president of marketing.
Additionally, new product development activities were consolidated at the Richardson plant in Canajoharie under Kalman Vadasz, vice-president of research and development.
“The appointment of Dave Alvarez as head of sales completes this senior management realignment as Richardson Brands rolls out several new products this year,” Mr. Butte said. “Since Dave Alvarez joined Richardson Brands in December of 2006 as Eastern region vice-president of sales, he’s significantly improved our presence in that region. Through his efforts, we have restructured the sales portfolio, growing our most valued branded businesses.”
Prior to joining Richardson, Mr. Alvarez worked with Nestle and Mission Foods, and he also was a broker at Acosta. He has a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of South Florida.
Richardson Brands operates a 180,000-square-foot facility in Canajoharie, and since 1893 it has produced branded confectionery products, including soft sugar mints, under the Richardson brand, chewy candies and Beechies branded coated gum.
