Amy's Kitchen expanding in South Carolina

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. — Amy’s Kitchen, a maker of natural and organic convenience foods, is investing $63 million in a new production facility in Greenville County. Amy’s Kitchen said it will upgrade the former Sara Lee facility with new machinery and equipment, and expects to begin local operations by Jan. 1, 2012.
Sonoma County, Calif.-based Amy’s Kitchen expects to produce a select line of frozen entrees at the new facility in Greenville County. In addition to South Carolina, Amy’s Kitchen has production facilities in California, Oregon and England.
“We are pleased to move forward with our plans to locate a new facility in South Carolina, allowing us to expand production capacity and more easily and efficiently reach customers and markets all along the East coast,” said Andy Berliner, chief executive officer. “Greenville County provided us with an excellent site and an existing structure suiting our needs.”
The $63 million investment is expected to generate more than 700 new jobs over the next six years.
