DIEMEN, THE NETHERLANDS — CSM n.v. has opened a new bakery ingredients facility in Shanghai, China. The facility is expected to serve the markets in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. “China is a very promising market for bakery products,” said Gerard Hoetmer, chief executive officer of CSM. “Our global customers are expanding into China. In addition, the economic growth is driving domestic consumption. This new production facility significantly increases our reach to the market in Greater China. We have started our presence in China with products sourced from our North American and European businesses. With this local production, we can better tailor our local product portfolio to local requirements and respond faster to customers’ needs.”
