Mizkan Americas acquires Border Foods

MOUNT PROSPECT, ILL. — Mizkan Americas Inc., a business unit of the Mizkan Group, has acquired Border Foods, Deming, N.M., a processor of green chile, jalapeno and tomatillo peppers and a manufacturer of enchilada sauces. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“We look forward to the continuing growth of Border Foods as this acquisition broadens strategic diversification in this sector,” said Craig Smith, president of Mizkan EuroAmericas. “The Hispanic foods market has seen aggressive growth over the last few years, and is projected to reach over $8 billion in 2011. We are pleased to now have a position in this growing market with Border Food’s quality products.”

Mizkan has made several acquisitions during the past five years, including the Holland House brand of cooking wines from Mott’s L.L.P., the World Harbors brand of marinades and barbeque sauces, Creole Fermentation of Louisiana, and the Gourmet Specialty division of Imperial Brands, Inc.
