MAYWOOD, N.J. — Stepan Co. has acquired the Clarinol, Marinol and PinnoThin product lines of Lipid Nutrition B.V. Clarinol, a conjugated linoleic acid, has been sold as a dietary supplement for more than 10 years and as an ingredient to reduce body fat and increase lean muscle mass. Marinol, concentrated omega-3 fatty acid triglycerides, are used in clinical and infant nutritional products. PinnoThin, derived from pine nuts, functions as an appetite suppressant.

The three product lines will be integrated into Stepan’s Food and Health Specialties business, which will be renamed Stepan Lipid Nutrition. The Stepan site in Maywood will continue to operate the central management of the business while a new Stepan Lipid Nutrition office will be near Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
