Takasago hires flavor chemist

ROCKLEIGH, N.J. — Belayet (Bill) Choudhury has been named senior flavor chemist at Takasago Americas. Dr. Choudhury is returning to Takasago, where he worked from 1997 through 2001 before working in various technical positions at Spicetec Flavors & Seasonings for 10 years.

Dr. Choudhury received a bachelor’s of science degree in chemistry and a master’s of science degree in nutrition from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla. He received a Ph.D. in food science from Rutgers University.

In other Takasago Americas personnel moves, Zareena Valappi, who has a Ph.D. in food science from the University of Florida, has moved from the company’s research and development group to the citrus group, and Hitesh Patel has become a certified flavor chemist.
