Van de Put named president, c.e.o. at McCain Foods

TORONTO — Dirk Van de Put has been named president and chief executive officer of McCain Foods Ltd., effective July 1. He succeeds Dale Morrison, who is leaving McCain to become a founding partner in a private equity firm.

Mr. Van de Put has more than 20 years of experience in the food and consumer packaged goods industry. He joined McCain in May 2010 as chief operating officer and a director of the company’s board. Prior to joining McCain he was president of Novartis’ over-the-counter consumer health business. Earlier, he held executive positions with Groupe Danone and Mars Inc.

He received a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Antwerp and a doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Gent in Belgium.
