Vion buys U.S. gelatin manufacturer

EINDHOVEN, THE NETHERLANDS —Vion n.v. has acquired Eastman Gel from the Eastman Kodak Co. Based in Peabody, Mass., Eastman Gel manufactures gelatin for the edible protein and food/confectionery market sectors as well as the photographic and pharmaceutical market sectors. The company produces 5,500 tonnes of gelatin annually.

Eastman Gel will become part of Rousselot, a Vion ingredients segment. Eindhoven-based Vion also has a food segment.

Vion is an international company that produces foods and ingredients for humans and animals.
