CKE Restaurants narrows loss in year

CARPINTERIA, CALIF. — CKE Restaurants, Inc. narrowed its loss during fiscal 2012.

For the full year ended Jan. 30, the company suffered a loss of $6,261,000, which compared with a loss of $35,405,000 during the previous year. Revenue for the year was $1,280,327,000, down 4% from $1,331,227,000 during fiscal 2011. Previous-year comparisons also included an extra week in fiscal year 2011.

“Both brands continued to generate positive same-store sales results during the fourth quarter,” said Andrew F. Puzder, chief executive officer. “Hardee’s now has seven consecutive quarters of positive same-stores sales. Carl’s Jr. also performed well, posting its fourth consecutive quarter of positive same-store sales.”

For the fourth quarter ended Jan. 30, the company had income of $88,000, which compared with a loss of $5,047,000 during the same quarter of the previous year. Revenue for the quarter was $287,396,000, down 3% from $297,292,000 during the same quarter of the previous year.
