LAKE FOREST, CALIF. — Grow Green Industries, Inc. and P.L. Thomas & Co. will introduce eatFresh natural antimicrobials, a line of products designed to enhance shelf life, during the Institute of Food Technologists’ annual meeting and food exposition in Las Vegas June 25-28. The companies also will introduce eatSafe natural food wash. Both patent-pending products are alternatives to chemically-based food sanitizers and preservatives.
eatFresh is a five-part complex of organic, Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) components designed to protect prepared/processed foods and beverages from bacteria, yeast and mold growth. It has a mild taste profile. It may replace such ingredients as sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate.
eatSafe is a seven-part complex of organic, GRAS components designed to ensure that products at farms and food processing operations are free from foodborne pathogens. In third-party laboratory tests, eatSafe removed 99.999% of bacteria and more than 98% of pesticide residues from fresh produce.
Both eatFresh and eatSafe are available in liquid or powder form.
“We’re very excited for the opportunity to partner with Grow Green Industries in launching and developing the market for these new products,” said Paul M. Flowerman, president of Morristown-based P.L. Thomas. “The all-natural and clean label movements are among the hottest on the consumer scene right now.”
