CHICAGO — Technomic has found consumers rank nutritional disclosure and responding to nutritional concerns in the top four social issues for the restaurant industry to address.
"We find increasingly strong evidence that consumers expect both chain and independent restaurants to be more socially responsive, and nutrition is a clear priority," said Bob Goldin, executive vice-president.
In its second annual corporate social responsibility study, Technomic found consumers rank living wages, responding to nutritional concerns, health insurance coverage and nutritional disclosure as the most important social responsibility issues for the industry.
In addition, 80% of consumers said they would visit a socially responsible restaurant more often and pay more.
