CHICAGO — Beech-Nut Nutrition Corp. has launched Beech-Nut Advancing Nutrition, a corporate commitment to provide nutritious food for the development of healthy children. The company announced the initiative at the American Dietetic Association’s Food and Nutrition Conference Expo.
"Today’s progressive moms have the highest expectations for the food they serve their children," said Christoph Rudolf, president and chief executive officer. "If they’re not making their own baby food, they want something that’s as close as possible to homemade. We’re dedicated to delivering products that are natural, free of fillers and artificial ingredients and have value-added benefits from DHA omega-3s to whole grains."
Specifically, Beech-Nut Advancing Nutrition involves three concepts — using all-natural ingredients with no added sugar, preservatives or artificial colors or flavors; providing essential nutrition through a balance of protein, carbohydrates and fats along with vitamins and minerals; and proactive nutrition for enhanced benefits to support learning, growth and development, including nutrients such as DHA omega-3 fatty acids and prebiotics.
The initiative involves new product innovations and nutrition education, including a labeling initiative to help parents identify nutrition information on each product and links to food groups.
