NEW YORK — Better-for-you beverages and quality quest beverages are driving sales in the beverage market, according to market researcher Packaged Facts.
Better-for-you beverages include functional, nutritional boost and holistic wellness beverages. Quality quest beverages include organic, local, artisan-made and retro/nostalgic beverages.
Coconut water is one beverage growing in mainstream popularity as it is a source of potassium, calcium and magnesium, and it can reportedly help regulate blood pressure and maintain heart health, according to the research firm.
Stevia has also become an extremely popular sweetener for beverages since it was approved by the Food and Drug Administration late last year.
Exotic flavors such as acerola and yumberry, kombucha and drinking vinegars are also trends that have been seen, Packaged Facts said. Functional kids’ beverages that promote various benefits for development are also popular.
