LE MARS, IOWA — After months of planning and evaluation, the Wells’ Dairy corporate center facility is beginning to take shape. Wells’ Dairy, Inc., the largest U.S. family owned and managed dairy processor, on June 27 broke ground on a 178,000-square-foot $26 million headquarters.
"The new facility will be the corporation’s greatest asset in bringing people together to work collaboratively and improve our ability to work in teams," said Gary Wells, chief executive officer. "Effective teamwork will be absolutely necessary to help us achieve our goal of becoming a top three national brand. We’re excited to share with the community today what our new corporate center will look like."
The new headquarters will allow the company to consolidate from seven locations throughout Le Mars into one location. The facility is set to open in the fall of 2006.
Wells’ Dairy said the economic help it received from the state of Iowa, the city of Le Mars, the Le Mars Business Initiative Corp., North West R.E.C. and Plymouth county has been instrumental in moving the project forward. As part of Wells’ Dairy’s agreement for economic incentives they will add 152 new jobs during the next five years within their new corporate center.
As of June 27, Wells’ Dairy had added 64 new positions and was well on its way to meet the goal of 152 new jobs.
