MINNEAPOLIS — Target Corp. announced that its Target and SuperTarget retail stores will offer a line of private label organics under its Archer Farms brand, including whole grain pizzas, pastas, complete dinners, dairy products, fruit strips and juices. In addition to the organic grocery line, Target said its produce department at SuperTarget has been certified organic by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
"People want to know more about organic products and where to best spend their money on them," said Dr. Susan Mitchell, registered dietitian and SuperTarget health and nutrition expert. "Target provides their guests with product choices for the whole family; products that enhance their lives in an affordable and accessible way. When it comes to feeding your kids, certain conventional choices are fine, but parents should be informed on where organic is the better bet. With the new Archer Farms organic product, Target has made it easy for parents to make better decisions on what to feed their families."
Target said the Archer Farms organic product line will expand with new product introductions on a regular basis. Products are available exclusively at SuperTarget stores nationwide, and at select Target stores. In addition, Target and SuperTarget stores will continue to offer hundreds of national organic products.
Target’s announcement comes a little more than a year after Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. initiated a plan to up its presence in the organic market by increasing the number of organic products it offers to more than 400 stock-keeping units of both fresh and brand name organic foods.
