COLUMBIA, MD. — General Mills, Inc. in mid-February will introduce Yoplait Kids featuring Martek’s life’sDHA, according to Martek Biosciences Corp. The 4-oz yogurt product will use Martek’s proprietary vegetarian form of DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid. Scientific studies have shown DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) may provide benefits for brain, eye and nervous system development in infants and children.

Last June Columbia-based Martek entered into a 15-year DHA license and supply agreement with Minneapolis-based General Mills in which General Mills may develop certain food products containing Martek DHA. General Mills will display the Martek DHA logo on product packaging and include the Martek DHA logo in related marketing, advertising and promotional materials.
