SALINAS, CALIF. — Monterey Gourmet Foods has launched several new products and unveiled new packaging on certain product lines, moves designed to improve the Monterey Pasta Co. brands and Sonoma Cheese.
Monterey Pasta Co. introduced four new organic items and expanded two others into new channels of distribution. The new items are 100% Organic Linguine, 100% Organic Fettuccine, Made with Organic Spinach & Cheese Ravioli, and Made with Organic Tomato, Basil & Mozzarella Ravioli.
The company also debuted new packaging for all varieties of Monterey Pasta Co.’s hot filled sauces and Sonoma Cheese stock-keeping unit. In addition to creating more shelf appeal, Monterey said the packaging will generate a 25% improvement in yield.
"We designed new packaging that is more elegant, more cost effective and more production efficient," said Eric Eddings, president and chief executive officer of Monterey. "These improvements reduce waste and packaging materials, thereby enabling us to keep our prices competitive while increasing our ‘green rating.’ In addition, we are proudly displaying our California Milk Advisory Board’s Seal of Approval on our Sonoma Cheese labels in time to celebrate National Dairy Month in June."
