Sargento Foods expands R.&D. staffing

PLYMOUTH, WIS. – Cathryn Fritz-Jung has joined Sargento Foods Inc. as the vice-president of research and development. She is responsible for leading the company’s technical product development and research efforts.
Prior to joining Sargento Foods, Ms. Fritz-Jung was vice-president of research and development, quality assurance for Little Caesar Enterprises, Detroit, where she supported new product development and technology and led new product strategy. Ms. Fritz-Jung also has worked for The Schwan Food Company, Ralston Purina Company, Riviana Foods, Nabisco Brands, Inc., and Anheuser-Busch Co.

Sargento Foods also made several appointments within its research and development department. John Brody has been promoted to senior technology principal. Since joining Sargento Foods in 1999, Mr. Brody has worked on a variety of projects for the company, including the Sargento Reduced Sodium natural cheese line of products.

Mihir Sainani will transition to senior research scientist within Sargento Foods’ frozen breaded group and work on frozen appetizer and non-refrigerated snack product development. Mr. Sainani started his career with Sargento in 2006 as a research scientist and was promoted to senior research scientist in 2009. Since joining the company, Mr. Sainani has supported new business development, as well as initiatives in the company’s natural cheese and value-added categories.
