OWASSO, OKLA. — National Steak and Poultry is recalling approximately 248,000 lbs of beef that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. The company initiated the recall after the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service linked a foodborne illness outbreak to non-intact steaks that were tenderized using blades or needles to pierce the surface of the product.
The cluster of illnesses is currently located in the states of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, South Dakota and Washington. FSM
