WASHINGTON — The Food and Drug Administration has warned consumers to not eat alfalfa sprouts or spicy sprouts labeled as produced by “Evergreen Produce” or “Evergreen Produce, Inc.” The sprouts have been linked to an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis that has sickened as many as 20 people.

The F.D.A. also stated the illness outbreak is not linked to the E. coli outbreak in Germany that has been associated with the consumption of raw sprouts.

The F.D.A. said the sprouts were distributed to Idaho, Montana and Washington state. The products in question were packaged in 4-oz, 16-oz and 1-lb packages.
