April soybean crush up from year ago

WASHINGTON — Soybean crushings in April came in at 144,935,051 bus, up 7% from 135,530,911 bus in April 2006, the U.S. Census Bureau said in its latest Fats and Oils — Oilseed Crushings report (click here to read report).

The April number was slightly below trade expectations that averaged near 146 million bus.

Soybean oil stocks at the end of April totaled 3,293,631,000 lbs, up 19% from 2,757,464,000 lbs a year ago and below trade estimates near 3,320,000,000 lbs.

Soybean meal and hull stocks in April were 328,585 tons, down 21% from 415,399 tons last year and below average trade estimates near 350,000 tons.
