Cold storage butter stocks up, egg stocks down

WASHINGTON — Stocks of butter in cold storage warehouses on May 31 were 269,400,000 lbs, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its June 22 Cold Storage report (click here to read report). This was up 3% from May 2006 and up 10% from April 2007.
Total natural cheese stocks were 881,400,000 lbs, which is up 2% from a year ago and up 1% from April.
Supplies of frozen egg whites were 3,049,000 lbs, up 23% compared with a year ago. However, stocks of yolks were 999,000, down 23% compared with May 2006. Whole and mixed eggs stocks were 5,990,000, down 56% compared with a year ago.
Fresh apple stocks were 1,065,118,000 lbs, down 6% compared with May 2006. Frozen concentrated orange juice stocks were 958,580,000, down 17% compared with a year ago. Stocks of French fries were 837,348,000, which was down 3% from May 2006.
