October egg product output up 8% from 2006

WASHINGTON — The total amount of edible liquid product from shell eggs broken in October was 237,910,000 lbs, up 8% from a year ago and up 11% from September 2007, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Egg Products report (click here for report).
October production of edible liquid whole eggs was 155,303,000 lbs, up 7% from October 2006; liquid whites were 54,252,000 lbs, up 13%; and liquid yolks were 28,355,000 lbs, up 12%.
Shell eggs broken in October totaled 180,888,000 dozen, up 7% from October 2006 and up 10% from September 2007, the U.S.D.A. said.
For the January-October period of 2007, shell eggs broken totaled 1,678,254,000 dozen, down 1% from the same period in 2006, the U.S.D.A. said. Edible liquid whole egg production for the period was 1,404,166,000 lbs, equal to levels last year; whites were 514,461,000 lbs, down 1%; and yolks were 274,247,000 lbs, down 2%. Total edible liquid produced in the first 10 months of 2007 was 2,192,874,000 lbs, down 1% from a year earlier. Production of inedible liquid was 191,503,000 lbs for the year through October, up 2% from a year ago.
