Iraq buys 400,000 tonnes U.S. hard red winter wheat

WASHINGTON — Private exporters reported to the U.S. Department of Agriculture the export sale of 400,000 tonnes of hard red winter wheat for delivery to Iraq during the 2007-08 marketing year, which began June 1.

Exporters are required to report to the U.S.D.A. any export sales of 100,000 tonnes or more of one commodity, made in one day to one destination. Lesser quantities are reported on a weekly basis.

Hard red winter wheat futures, traded at the Kansas City Board of Trade, were at an all-time high on Tuesday, with the May contract closing at $12.65 a bu.
