ATLANTA — Wendy’s/Arby’s International, part of Wendy’s/Arby’s Group Inc., this week opened the first of 35 Wendy’s restaurants scheduled to be built by the Kopitiam Group throughout Singapore over the next 10 years. The announcement comes less than a week after Wendy’s/Arby’s Group Inc. said it would exit Japan by the end of the year, ending a 29-year presence in the country and resulting in the closing of 71 Wendy’s restaurants.
“This opening marks an important milestone in our efforts to grow in key international markets,” said Andy Skehan, senior vice-president of Wendy’s/Arby’s International. “Based on comprehensive analysis, we believe we have the long-term growth potential for more than 8,000 restaurants outside of North America, including a much stronger presence in the Asia/Pacific region.
Wendy’s/Arby’s has operated a regional office in Hong Kong since 2007. The office serves franchisees, suppliers and staff throughout the Asia/Pacific region, with the intent to expand into new markets.
