January egg product up 7% from 2010

WASHINGTON — The total amount of edible liquid product from shell eggs broken in January was 220,215,000 lbs, down 4% from December but up 7% from the previous year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Egg Products report.

January production of edible whole eggs was 138,118,000 lbs, up 7% from January 2010; liquid whites were 54,490,000 lbs, up 7%; liquid yolks were 27,607,000 lbs, up 9%; and inedible product was 19,433,000 lbs, up 9%.
Shell eggs broken in January totaled 170,042,000 dozen, down 4% from December but up 8% from the previous year.
