March egg products up 10% from 2010

WASHINGTON — The total amount of edible liquid product from shell eggs broken in March was 236,248,000 lbs, up 16% from February and up 10% from the previous year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Egg Products report.

March production of edible whole eggs was 143,995,000 lbs, up 3% from March 2010; liquid whites were 60,807,000 lbs, up 24%; liquid yolks were 31,446,000 lbs, up 24%; and inedible production was 20,392,000 lbs, up 5%.

Shell eggs broken in March totaled 180,237,000 dozen, up 16% from February and up 9% from the previous year.

January – March production of edible whole eggs was 659,656,000 lbs, up 7% from the previous year. Shell eggs broken in the quarter were 505,182,000 lbs, up 7% from the previous year.
