WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Agriculture, in cooperation with the George Washington University Medical Center, on Oct. 25 will launch a new nutrition web site geared specifically for pregnant and new mothers.

MyPyramid for Moms, located at www.mypyramid.gov, was developed by the U.S.D.A. Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion in cooperation with the U.S.D.A. Food and Nutrition Service, WIC Program. The content was developed in consultation with experts in maternal and child nutrition from the U.S.D.A., the Department of Health and Human Services and academia.

A news conference will be held Oct. 25 featuring remarks and comments from acting agriculture secretary Chuck Conner and Dr. John Larsen, chairman of the George Washington University Medical Center Department of OB\GYN.

In addition to MyPyramid for Moms, the U.S.D.A. has operated MyPyramid for Kids since September 2005.
