MINNEAPOLIS — The Food and Drug Administration has issued a letter of no objection to Minneapolis-based Cargill for the Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) status of arachidonic acid-rich oil (ARA) as an ingredient in infant formula, Cargill said Feb. 24. ARA, a natural component of human mother’s milk, assists in the brain and vision development of infants, according to Cargill.
