CHICAGO — New bottled beverages launching next year from Starbucks and PepsiCo tap into top trends. The products were featured at the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) Show, held Oct. 17-20 in Chicago.
More than 20 years ago, Starbucks and PepsiCo created the ready-to-drink coffee category with the launch of the bottled Frappuccino. Today, the companies now offer more than 50 bottled coffee beverages and have approximately 88% market share in the R.-T.-D. coffee category and 73% market share in the overall $2.1 billion R.-T.-D. category.
At the NACS Show, the companies unveiled six new Starbucks branded products at the PepsiCo booth. Coming in February is a pair of Starbucks Cold Brew single-serve beverages in sweetened black and vanilla and fig flavors. The products were inspired by the cold brew coffee blend served at Starbucks stores.
Slated for a May debut are Starbucks Bottled Frappuccino Chilled Coffee Drinks with Almondmilk in vanilla and mocha varieties. The products contain 35% fewer calories than coffee and mocha bottled Frappuccino beverages and provide a sweet, creamy option for consumers who prefer non-dairy alternatives.
