KANSAS CITY — Food and beverage manufacturers are packing protein into new products, from desserts and duck broth to beverages and baking mixes.
Protein pairs with dessert in Halo Top Creamery’s new seasonal ice cream flavor: Gingerbread House. With 360 calories and 20 grams of protein per pint, the flavor features a vanilla icing swirl and pieces of gingerbread cookies.
Pekin duck is the star of two new protein-packed bone broth varieties from Pacific Foods: Organic Duck and Organic Poultry, a special chicken, turkey and duck blend. The shelf-stable offerings contain 7 grams of protein per serving and are made with humanely raised animal proteins and certified organic ingredients.
For the protein-seeking snacker, Chef’s Cut Real Jerky Co. is introducing Protein Snack Packs, which pair jerky with natural cheese that has been dehydrated using a proprietary drying process to create a crunchy cheese crisp. The snack packs are shelf-stable, gluten-free, nitrite-free and available in two combinations: Real Steak Jerky — Original Recipe & Cheddar Cheese and Real Turkey Jerky — Teriyaki & Pepper Jack Cheese.

Plant protein is the star of the new line of beverages from Après. Made with 13 grams of organic plant protein from pea, chia, cacao and hemp plus virgin coconut oil and coconut water, the drinks are non-G.M.O., vegan, dairy-free, soy-free and gluten-free. Après is available in three varieties: mint cacao, sea salt chocolate and chai spiced vanilla.
Old Wisconsin Sausage, Inc. is offering a new portfolio of protein-heavy meat snacks featuring four product lines: Natural Cut snack bites, Big Smokey sticks, Snack Bites and Premium Summer Sausage.
Providing 20 grams of protein, One Brands is adding a new peanut butter chocolate cake flavor to its One Bars line. The protein bar contains just 1 gram of sugar.
