KANSAS CITY — Peppermint is permeating menus this holiday season, lending its candy cane-evoking flavor to everything from beverages to brownies and milkshakes to cupcakes.

Peppermint is one of many Christmasy components that make up Starbucks’ new Christmas Tree Frappuccino. The beverage features a blend of mocha and peppermint topped with matcha-infused whipped cream, a caramel drizzle, candied cranberries and a strawberry topper to look like a decorated Christmas tree.

Peppermint is the festive focal point of three new offerings at Jack in the Box. The Peppermint White Chocolate Shake is made with a blend of ice cream and white chocolate peppermint syrup topped with whipped topping, peppermint bark pieces and a cherry.

Jack in the Box’s Peppermint Brownie is a chocolate fudge brownie with baked-in peppermint bark pieces topped with cream cheese frosting and more peppermint bark pieces.

The Peppermint White Chocolate Iced Coffee features Jack in the Box’s premium roasted coffee sweetened with white chocolate peppermint syrup poured over ice.

Peppermint pairs with another seasonal flavor – hot chocolate – in GiGi’s Cupcakes’ new yuletide treat. The Peppermint Hot Chocolate Cupcake is a hot cocoa cake stuffed with peppermint cream and topped with a swirl of chocolate ganache and red and white sprinkles.
