KANSAS CITY — With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, restaurants are offering new menu items with features reminiscent of the holiday.
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is celebrating with a new sweet treat that combines several elements reminiscent of Valentine’s Day: hearts, chocolate and the color red. Krispy Kreme’s new Oreo Cookies & Kreme Donut is an unglazed heart-shaped donut filled with Oreo cookie crème dipped in dark chocolate then topped with Oreo cookie pieces and a red icing drizzle.
Baskin-Robbins has named its newest ice cream in the spirit of the sweethearts holiday. New Cannoli Be With You Ice Cream combines mascarpone ice cream, chocolate chips, cannoli shell pieces and roasted pistachios.
Dairy Queen’s new frozen dessert is evocative of a favorite Valentine’s Day indulgence: chocolate-covered strawberries. The new Dipped Strawberry with Ghirardelli Blizzard Treat features chunks of Ghirardelli chocolate and strawberry topping blended with vanilla soft serve.
Red velvet is the star of TGI Fridays’ new Valentine’s Day-themed offerings. The Red Velvet Extreme Shake features a blend of natural ice cream mix, red velvet cake, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, strawberries and whipped cream topped with a whole slice of red velvet cake and a chocolate drizzle. The Red Velvet Sparkler Cake is a three-tiered red velvet cake layered with cream cheese frosting and topped with whipped cream, candy sprinkles and strawberry Pocky candy. The cake is served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
